Thousands enjoy launch of new Isle of Wight beer
Tue 28 Sep 2010
As many as 3,000 people are thought to have turned up to celebrate the launch of a new beer brewed on the Isle of Wight last weekend.
Goddards Brewery has created its latest ale, Hoppiness, which was released to locals and those on Isle of Wight holidays at Ventnor Winter Gardens.
The Isle of Wight County Press reports that as well as the launch of the new beer, attendees were able to watch displays of traditional island skills such as rush weaving and wood turning on the day.
"There were performances from island musicians, morris dancing and of course beer tasting as well as a selection of Isle of Wight food stalls including wares from The Garlic Farm and Mary Case honey," added the newspaper.
Beer lovers on Isle of Wight holidays who wish to sample more locally-produced fare can try out various other Goddards ales, such as Duck's Folly - which is released in October - and Winter Warmer, which comes out later in the year.
