Spend Halloween 2013 on the Isle of Wight

Halloween is a buzzing time of year, especially for families with young children who love dressing up and going trick or treating.

It's also a great excuse to do something special with your loved ones, such as going on a week-long break and enjoying the festivities in a new and exciting place. This surely beats shelling out on tons of money on sweets to hand out to the neighbours' kids.

The Isle of Wight in particular has lots going on for Halloween 2013, and is a very scenic place to spend a few days. Read on for a rundown of some of the biggest and best events kicking off on the island this October 31st.

Park of the Dead

If you think you're pretty tough when it comes to spooky occurrences, then you might change your mind after Park of the Dead is finished with you.

This live action horror adventure takes place at Puckpool Park and takes attendees round various creepy locations relating to the park's military history. Throughout your journey, you'll encounter loud, unexpected noises, flashing lights and uncanny experiences, and you may even be plunged into pitch black darkness at any time.

Not for the faint-hearted, but also tremendous fun, this Halloween event shouldn't be missed. It will be running from October 30th to November 3rd, with admission costing £22.50. You can also arrange to join a designated children's tour, which is priced at £10 per person.

Following on from similar tours held in Halloween 2012 and Easter 2013, this time the groups are going to be even smaller so the adventure feels even more personal and dangerous. For this reason, it is perhaps more suited to older children and teens.

Spooky Castle

Carisbrooke Castle in Newport is being given a Halloween makeover this October and is putting on a spectacle your little ones will love.

Spooky Castle - which is taking place between October 26th and November 3rd - boasts a schedule jam-packed with fun activities for the kids, including arts and crafts with a ghoulish twist, ghost hunting, storytelling and a trail around the grounds to search for a hidden tomb.

English Heritage is behind the event, so any members of the organisation can enter Spooky Castle free of charge. However, for non-members, prices are as follows: £7.70 for adults, £4.60 for children aged five to 15, £6.90 for concessions and £20 for a family ticket.

Halloween Horror

On October 26th, Bembridge Youth and Community Centre is set to play host to Halloween Horror, a night of family fun that all are welcome to attend.

Kicking off at 7pm - and running until 7pm - this event is a great activity for families who are planning on visiting the island the weekend before the big night, but who are still keen to get involved in some Halloween celebrations.

Halloween Horror will consist of fancy dress competitions for both the kids and adults, games, snacks and even a disco. A licensed bar will be available for the grown-ups, and what's even better is that admission is completely free.ADNFCR-3083-ID-801641981-ADNFCR
