Plans progressing for Cowes harbour improvements

The UK government's Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) has stated its plans for the improvement of Cowes harbour are coming along nicely.

Progress is being made by the HCA in its plans to create a new state-of-the-art marina at the site, which could be great news for anyone planning a trip to the Isle of Wight in the future.

The East Cowes Venture Quays site is set to receive a funding boost of £2 million, with the money set to be spent on upgrading existing buildings and services in the area over the next six months.

It forms part of the ambitious vision set out by the HCA to make the marina area a hub of tourism for the island, with the latest announcement following a £3.12 million investment in the creation of a new 300-berth marina for both private and commercial vessels.

Paul Flatt, senior development manager at the HCA, said: "We are committed to the long-term vision for a new marina at East Cowes which will bring in new businesses, jobs and investment to the area.

"The work underway at Venture Quays is the latest step towards this aim and will play a key part in supporting the wider ambitions for the regeneration of East Cowes."

He added the investment in Venture Quays is a signal of the department's commitment to the Isle of Wight, which offers clear benefits for the local economy by attracting new employers and jobs to the area.

Some of the attractions already in place for Cowes harbour visitors over the coming months include the Stokey Woodall Atlantic Circuit, which will be running from the harbour between October 23rd and June 30th next year.

It offers a chance for amateurs to make their way across the Atlantic Ocean under the supervision of seasoned sailors and enjoy cruises in the Caribbean as part of a large fleet, returning to the Isle of Wight later in the year.ADNFCR-3083-ID-801626304-ADNFCR
