Jack Up the 80s to celebrate Wight Crystal anniversary

The 25th anniversary of Wight Crystal Spring Water is to be celebrated in style next month, with a two-day festival harking back to the days of new romantics, synthesisers and suspect outfits.

Founded in 1988, Wight Crystal Spring Water is a charitable organisation which specialises in the sale of local spring water products, flavoured water and coolers to help fund care services for vulnerable members of the island's community.

It offers 24/7 care support for individuals with learning disabilities and those who require round-the-clock care.

Jack Up the 80s will take place on August 10th and 11th at the Garlic Festival site on Bathingbourne Lane in Newchurch on the Isle of Wight and promises to be a fun-packed event for all the family.

Under-12s will be able to get in for free, while all other guests can purchase 'early bird' admission for £15 per day or £25 for a two-day pass.

Attractions at the event will include live performances from 12 of the biggest artists of the decade. Saturday will see live renditions from Bad Manners, The Lambrettas, Katrina & the Waves, Doctor & the Medics, Bootleg Blondie and Matchbox.

Meanwhile, Sunday's acts will include Heaven 17, Hoosiers, Toyah, Junior Giscombe, Orange Street and Eddie & the Hot Rods.

Guests are urged to dress in their best 1980s get-up and in addition to the live music, visitors will be treated to school dinners, face painting, welly wanging, Go Karts, a fun fair, helter skelter and the chance to win a car from this iconic decade.

Live '80s karaoke, a retro shop and retro games will also be available for festivalgoers to enjoy and reminisce over.

A statement from the organisation read: "A 25th anniversary is always a milestone and this is a great way to let the people of the south, old friends and new know that Wight Crystal are still going strong and are looking forward to the next 25 years."

Gates will open from 10:00 BST each day, with the first performers taking to the stage from noon. Final acts will be on from 19:30 each evening.ADNFCR-3083-ID-801611413-ADNFCR
