Isle of Wight 'has excellent coastal footpath'

Tourists on Isle of Wight holidays may wish to spend some time on the island's coastal footpaths, as they have been described as "excellent".

According to Helen Slade, writing for the Isle of Wight County Press, there is a wide range of landscapes and habitats to be enjoyed during a break on the island.

She explained a lot of the Isle of Wight's coastline is protected under international regulations, so visitors may wish to go along and check it out for themselves.

Ms Slade pointed out there is more on offer than merely beaches and cliffs like many islands, as the Isle of Wight also boasts attractions like lagoons and saltmarshes, which are able to be found at Yarmouth and Newtown respectively, as well as the heathland of Headon Warren.

As well as all of this, families on Isle of Wight holidays who take their time exploring the island can also find coastal grazing marshes at destinations such as Brading, although it was pointed out this is a protected area as it houses a Royal Society for the Protection of Birds reserve.

"Elsewhere one can wander in woodlands of varying ages (ancient woodlands are those believed to have had a continuous woodland cover since at least 1600)," declared Ms Slade, who highlighted locations like Wootton, Borthwood Copse and America Wood for those who are interested in trees.

Ms Slade concluded by noting it is impossible to do the Isle of Wight justice in words alone, which may encourage people to book holidays to the island to see it for themselves.

Fitness fanatics in particular may be booking Isle of Wight holidays in the coming days in order to attend a bootcamp being held on the island.

According to the Guardian, Wild Fitness is putting on a three-day course designed for those who want to get fit in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
