Garlic Farm has recipe for holiday fun this spring

It might sound like an unusual way to spend your holiday on the Isle of Wight, but a visit to the Garlic Farm in Newchurch has all the ingredients you need for a great day out.

The farm has been producing garlic for the past 50 years and today is the UK's largest specialist garlic grower. But as well as growing the pungent onion for sale, the Garlic Farm makes sure it offers plenty to keep visitors entertained.

As well as a shop packed with garlic products and a restaurant with plenty of garlic flavoured dishes on the menu, a number of special events are taking place in 2014 that you won't want to miss:

Valentine's Day

This coming Friday, couples across the UK will be celebrating Valentine's Day. What better place to do so than the Garlic Farm's beautiful restaurant, which was built using pine wood that was planted around the farm.

Settle in by the log fire and enjoy an intimate meal for two.

Half-term Fun Day

However, it's not just loved-up adults who can enjoy a visit to the Garlic Farm. On Saturday February 22nd, it will be hosting a half-term Fun Day from 11am until 3pm.

Your kids will get a chance to plant their own garlic and take it home, make their own garlic bread, have their faces painted, play lucky dip and other games, and enjoy a muddy walk.

Masterclass

Once you've wooed that special someone on Valentine's Day, why not learn to become a better cook by joining a masterclass run by Garlic Farm head chef Charlie Bartlett?

Taking place on March 11th, the workshop will show you how to prepare and cook a starter and a main meal meal using fresh local produce, including the magic ingredient: garlic. The second half of the day will feature dessert making and there will be plenty of opportunity for taste testing. ADNFCR-3083-ID-801692928-ADNFCR
