Folk and blues to take centre stage in May

The line-up for this year's Wolverton Folk & Blues Fair has been announced by organisers, with visitors to the Isle of Wight urged to head along to check out the numerous live acts.

Set to take place on May 12th at Wolverton Manor, the event is being put on in order to raise funds for Leukaemia Research and Brighstone School.

Aiming to provide entertainment for all the family, the festival will include onsite facilities including the Isle of Wight Real Ale beer tent, a tea tent serving drinks and cakes, plus an array of children's activities, such as Zumba and learning circus skills.

Confirmed acts to date include The Sail Pattern, The Wild Oats, Holly Kirby, The MoonShiners, Scarecrow, Nick Cane Band, Laurie McVay and Tony Farinha, The Herd and Clive Thomas.

More artists will be added to the line-up as the event gets nearer, with visitors being urged to purchase their tickets in advance, as it is likely to be a popular day out and space is limited.

Tickets are currently available from a range of sources on the island, including The Village Shop in Brighstone, Briddlesford Lodge Farm Shop and Shorwell Shop, as well as bookseller Waterstone's in Newport.

Admission will cost £5 for advance purchasers and £7 on the gate, while children under 12 will e able to get in for free.

Elsewhere in May, Bill's Birthday Bash is returning to the Apollo Theatre in Newport on the 23rd, with the show to include a host of jazz greats.

Saxophonist Alan Barnes, double bassist Cass Caswell and trumpeter Digby Fairweather will be taking to the stage on the night alongside a host of other big names from the world of UK jazz, with Newport Jazz Club organising the annual showcase in order to promote the best British jazz talent.ADNFCR-3083-ID-801560458-ADNFCR
