Festivals galore this summer

Music lovers planning a getaway on the Isle of Wight this summer are in for a real treat, with an array of some of the biggest festivals in the UK set to take place on the island.

The Isle of Wight Festival dates back to 2002 and has seen some of the biggest bands in the world performing, while Bestival launched in 2003 and will be celebrating its tenth anniversary this year - meaning festival promoter Rob da Bank has pulled out all the stops to make the event the biggest and best Bestival ever.

He said: "I still can't believe Bestival is gonna be ten ... but it is and that's great 'cos it means we get to go even more mental with our onsite creations and general madness."

The Bestival line-up is certainly one that will catch the eye of music aficionados this year, with legendary songwriter Elton John talking to the stage with his band in a set that is sure to blow away the crowds.

Other confirmed headliners for 2013 include Snoop Dogg, Fat Boy Slim, MIA, Franz Ferdinand, The Flaming Lips and the Wu Tang Clan, plus many more.

Running from September 5th to 8th and with tickets costing £190 for a full weekend pass, Bestival is certainly an event to add to this year's festival calendar for music lovers of all genres.

Famed for its off-the-wall and anarchic features, this year's Bestival is also set to see a spectacular end-of-weekend fireworks display in the Magic Meadow and the launch of new stage The Port - a full-scale ship filled with dancefloors and attractions.

Elsewhere, the Isle of Wight Festival will be taking place from June 13th to 16th and offers an equally incredible line-up of top acts.

The Stone Roses, The Killers and Bon Jovi are confirmed headliners for the three nights of partying, with supporting artists including Bloc Party, The Script, Paloma Faith, The Maccabees, Ellie Goulding, Example + DJ Wire, Rizzle Kicks, Sub Focus and Emeli Sande all featuring.

2013 also promises to be a year when the Isle of Wight Festival will be offering a blast from the past, with the Modfather himself Paul Weller making his triumphant return to the stage, as well as live performances from '80s legends Blondie and T'Pau.

All in all, it promises to a fantastic weekend of live entertainment that will have ravers of all ages getting their kicks.

Admission to the festival will cost £185 for an adult weekend camping pass, while kids can get in for £92.50. Campervans are an iconic feature of this festival as well, but automotive lovers hoping to take along their beloved camper this year could be out of luck if they haven't already bought their tickets, as campervan access has now sold out.

Meanwhile, fans of less contemporary and more esoteric musical styling might like to check out the annual Rhythmtree World Music Festival, which will be taking place near Yarmouth from July 19th to 21st.

Founded in 2009 and getting bigger and better each year, the attractions for music fans in 2013 include performances by King Porter Stomp, Dele Sosimi's Afrobeat Vibration with Cream legend Ginger Baker, the Cable Street Collective, Prince Fatty, Miles Cleret and many more varied artists.

Admission will cost festivalgoers £75 for a three-day camping pass, with teens aged 13 to 17 able to get in for £40 - although these tickets can only be purchased alongside an adult entry. Kids aged 12 and under can get in for free and individuals keen to bring along their campervan can do so for an additional premium of £25.ADNFCR-3083-ID-801592420-ADNFCR
