Enjoy an island Farmers' Market

Individuals keen to get a real taste of the Isle of Wight in the coming weeks might like to check out on the many Farmers' Markets that will be taking place across the island.

Taking place in both Ryde and Newport, the markets offer an array of locally-grown produce that is sure to have visitor's taste buds tingling.

Fresh produce from artisan bakers, patisseries, meat producers, vegetable growers and more will be on offer, with guests encouraged to head along a try as many of the delicacies and tasty ingredients as they wish.

Producers interact directly with the public at these markets, enabling buyers to talk to those who have given their time and effort to delivering the best produce possible. Visitors can chat to stall holders to their heart's content, gaining insight into how items are produced, as well as garnering tips on how best to use them in their own cooking.

The next farmers' market will be taking place in Newport on June 7th and will be open from 09:00 to 14:00 BST. It will be followed by an event in Ryde on June 8th.

Markets run throughout the year on Fridays and Saturdays in the two locations.

Meanwhile, visitors to the island who love their garlic might like to head along to the annual Isle of Wight Garlic Festival, which will be taking place on August 17th and 18th.

Entry to the festival is priced at £2.50 and those under the age of 11 can get in for free, while all money raised at the event will go towards supporting a number of good causes, including the Earl Mountbatten Hospice.

Around 20,000 people are expected to attend this year's festival, with more than 300 commercial stalls set up offering treats ranging from your basic garlic breads and cheeses, through to more exotic fare like garlic ice cream.ADNFCR-3083-ID-801595203-ADNFCR
