Easter Eggstravaganza at Blackgang Chine
Thu 7 Mar 2013
Visitors to the Isle of Wight this Easter half-term might like to check out the festivities that are taking place at Blackgang Chine, one of the quirkiest and interesting attractions on the island.
The annual Easter Eggstravaganza will be taking place at the venue from April 3rd to 11th and this year the operators have gone "chocolate mad", having set up their Chocolate HQ for families keen to make the most of the Easter holiday to indulge in this sweet treat.
Blind tastings, dips in the chocolate fountain and much more will be on hand to tantalise the taste buds of visitors, while kids will also be able to get involved in the fun as they are given the opportunity to decorate their very own Easter eggs.
Expert magician Aaron Istad will also be performing across the Easter festivities, with the native islander offering a range of mind-boggling tricks to wow guests.
In addition, he will be taking part in his Great Escape as part of the festivity's Grand Finale - when he will be recreating a dangerous and thrilling escape act first performed by the iconic Harry Houdini himself.
Meanwhile, fans of Easter festivities hoping to get out and about this half-term might be tempted to head along to the annual Yarmouth Carnival, which will be taking place on March 30th.
The festivities are set to include treats for all the family, but one standout feature of each year's celebrations is the Duck Race on the River Yar, when 1,000 numbered plastic fowl will be released on to the river, before racing to be the first to pass the nearby Yar Bridge.
Festivalgoers will be able to purchase tickets for the event in the days running up to the carnival and on the day itself, with winners being decided as the first four ducks which cross the finishing line.
