Check out the International Charity Classic Car Extravaganza

Petrol heads visiting the Isle of Wight in September might like to head along to the annual International Charity Classic Car Extravaganza.

Organised by the Earl Mountbatten Hospice and taking place on the 14th and 15th of the month, the event promises to be a great attraction for anyone with a penchant for classic vehicles.

Visitors from across the UK and Europe are set to descend on Newport Quay and Ryde Esplanade for the motoring showcase, which will feature two days of fun and excitement for lovers of all things automotive.

Guests are invited to bring along their own classic vehicles to take part in the festivities, with the Newport spectacle to be a day of getting up close and personal with an array of classic cars, while in Ryde the following day the action will be spread over three sites - the Western and Eastern Gardens, as well as the Esplanade.

More than 700 custom, classic and retro cars and bikes are set to be showcased across the festival weekend, with visitors to the island encouraged to head along and check out the shows.

Sponsors of this year's International Charity Classic Car Extravaganza include Isle of Wight Council, the Isle of Wight County Press, Paul Jones Insurance Services and Ryde Town Council.

All funds raised at the first event are to be donated to St Catherine's School in Ventnor - a charitable organisation dedicated to providing education to children with special needs and learning difficulties - while the second day's activities will provide a boost to Earl Mountbatten itself, a group that delivers much-needed support and care for individuals suffering from terminal illness and their families.

Both shows are set to be free to attend and will run each day from 11:00 to 17:30 BST.

In total, between 16,000 and 20,000 are predicted to be visiting the showcase in 2013, with Classic Car Weekly set to be on hand to announce its Pick of the Day at both events.ADNFCR-3083-ID-801624577-ADNFCR
