A Century of Photography in one family

The Isle of Wight's Dimbola Museums and Galleries will this month play host to an exciting new exhibition that shows off photographs related to four generations of the Green family, which has led a life more exciting than many.

Caught in the crossfire of the First and Second World Wars, the family that adored photography and film certainly has a story worth telling.

The works of Marika Green feature four generations of her family, while Mia Green's creations are equally stirring, prompting thoughts on everything from the history of Sweden to the political, social and aesthetic occurrences of an entire century.

A wonderfully limitless exhibition that has already made its way through Austria, the event goes from the destruction and devastation of the Second World War to the everyday existence and cultural life in Paris, before bouncing to the fifties and sixties and finally ending with the world of fashion and cinema.

It's enjoyable for the incredible diversity of the topics it discusses, but even more so for the fact it is charting a very beautiful story about a single family, retracing many personalities that have long since passed away.

Highlights include the film of Marika Green singing the female lead in the classic song 'Pick Pocket' by Robert Bresson feature, as well as a range of miniature exhibitions featured within the main one that depict the lives of artists such as Salvador Dali, Albert Camus, Catherine Deneuve, and more. All photos are naturally taken by members of the Green family.

For those who wish to attend such a fascinating event, it's running from April 5th until June 29th at Dimbola, which is open from 10am until 5pm Monday to Sunday.

The venue hosts a plethora of activities that are quite extraordinary and for those catching ferries to the Isle of Wight, it should be on their must-visit list even if they can't make this particular event.ADNFCR-3083-ID-801697725-ADNFCR
