Isle of Wight venue 'as good as top London restaurants'

A restaurant on the Isle of Wight has been described as being as good as any venues located in the centre of London.

According to a report by Yahoo!, The Little Gloster Restaurant & Bar, which is located in Cowes to the north of the island, features locally sourced and seasonal food.

It was noted that the restaurant has a Scandinavian-style design through "simple white sails, wood tables and floor", while the use of local foods means the carbon footprint is low.

Tourists looking for somewhere to head to in the UK in the coming weeks and months may wish to book Isle of Wight holidays so they are able to check out the venue for themselves.

Tasting platters are available for two people for under £20, with dishes on the menu including a fillet of Isle of Wight beef carpaccio that was described by the news provider as "mouthwatering".

Wild mushroom crostini with parmesan can also be tried out by visitors, while the main courses include the likes of "imaginative" seared sea bream in spiced coconut and mussel broth.

The Little Gloster also boasts accommodation, so it could be the perfect place to stay for those who want to go on Isle of Wight holidays in the coming months to make the most of the summer.

However, only three rooms are available at the venue, so those who want to stay at The Little Gloster will need to plan their break in advance and book ahead.

Tourists who book Isle of Wight holidays and want to enjoy more top food during their time on the island were advised by Yahoo! to head to The Hambrough, which is located in Ventnor and is presided over by the top chef Robert Thompson.

It was noted the cook is only 30 years of age and he already has a Michelin star to his name, so those who head to the venue to try his cooking for themselves will be assured they are eating the food of one of the best young chefs in the country.

The news provider highlighted the fact that he is currently "causing waves" throughout the industry with the original dishes he is creating for diners on the Isle of Wight.

It said: "The small dining room is perfectly adequate, but isn't as grand as the food, however all that's about to change as Thompson revealed he's got city backing to convert nearby vast derelict Winter Palace into a bistro, hotel, performance space and glitzy restaurant complete with panoramic Ventnor views."

This is set to open next year and is sure to result in a rise in the number of people booking Isle of Wight holidays, as they will want to see Thompson's latest venture for themselves.

People travelling to the island were also reminded that no trip to the Isle of Wight is complete without a taste of the famous Minghella ice cream, with Cowes and Ventnor both housing branches of the family-owned business that dates back many generations.

A vast range of flavours of the ice cream are available, including banana smoothie, peanut butter bliss or honey and ginger.

The Octopus Garden Cafe in Cowes was also singled out as a great place to go for those on Isle of Wight holidays whose budgets cannot stretch to a visit to high-end establishments such as The Hambrough or The Little Gloster, with the report pointing out the venue is filled with Beatles memorabilia and 60s nostalgia.

It opened 13 years ago and has become one of the most popular dining spots on the Isle of Wight for both locals and tourists over the course of the last decade.
