Isle of Wight restaurant 'is exceptional'

People on Isle of Wight holidays who like to eat out may book a table at a restaurant on the island that has been described as "exceptional" in a review by a national newspaper.

In a report on The Little Gloster, The Daily Telegraph stated the food on offer at the Scandinavian-themed location - which also has a number of rooms tourists can stay in - is "awfully good" and "reasonably priced".

It was noted by the newspaper that among the tempting dishes available on the menu of the Isle of Wight eatery are "delicious home-cured gravlax, accompanied by a shot of fennel-flavoured aquavit, smoked mackerel salad Nicoise and lobster thermidor".

The Scandinavian theme of The Little Gloster was also praised in the report, with the writer noting they feel like they are in Denmark when they are staying in the hotel rooms.

"It's clean and white with a huge comfortable bed and a deep sofa (bed) opposite," it was noted in the newspaper article, which went on to describe the "beautiful day" on the Isle of Wight that followed the stay and meal at The Little Gloster.

The story behind the site was also explained in the report, which noted there is an open kitchen in the restaurant so tourists on Isle of Wight holidays can see proprietor Ben Cooke at work.

He has been in charge at The Little Gloster for just two years, but has already turned it into one of the best places to eat on the Isle of Wight, it was pointed out.

There are only a limited number of rooms available at the hotel, so those who want to book Isle of Wight holidays and stay at the location will have to move quickly to confirm accommodation.

All of the rooms are equipped with an en-suite shower room and the balcony suite has its own private terrace with table and chairs.
