Isle of Wight holiday could feature world record attempt

Tourists taking Isle of Wight holidays in September may wish to take part in a world record attempt that is partly taking place on the island.

Two student volunteers - Nicola Ranson and Alice Dewsnap - told the Isle of Wight County Press that the event, a giant nationwide coffee morning, will be held to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Ms Ranson said: "Everyone can join in and if you don't like coffee or a traditional coffee morning doesn't suit you, there are plenty of other ways to get involved."

She added that it is hoped younger people will take part, perhaps by organising a quiz night or music events on the island.

The event will take place on September 24th 2010 and will be aiming to help to break the £333,000 raised throughout the Berkshire, Hampshire and Isle of Wight region during fundraising activities last year.

The Isle of Wight branch of the coffee morning world record attempt will be held at the Marks and Spencer cafe in Newport.
