Isle of Wight Garlic Farm scoops award

The Isle of Wight Garlic Farm has won yet another prize from the Royal Horticultural Society's Hampton Court Flower Show.

It is celebrating after picking up a prize for the eighth year in a row at the location, with its garden - Allium Alfresco - named the best Growing For Taste exhibit in the marquee.

According to a report by the Isle of Wight County Press, the allium family was designed at the core of the garden, which was described by the judges of the event as a modern interpretation of the popular pastime that is outdoor living, cooking and eating.

Garlic Farm owner Colin Boswell stated a "great deal" of effort and love had gone into the entry, adding: "Hampton Court has always been a fantastic way for us to demonstrate why we are renowned for our quality, British, garlic.

He added: "It also gives us the perfect opportunity to meet budding gardeners and teach them a little about growing garlic at home."

Paul Barney, from Edulis, was the man who designed the winning garden on behalf of the Isle of Wight Garlic Farm, which is one of the top locations on the island for food lovers to head to.

He was selected after being awarded for putting together last year's gold medal winning Garlic Lover's Garden at the Royal Horticultural Society's Hampton Court Flower Show.

The Isle of Wight Garlic Farm boasts a cafe which is among one of the most interesting places on the island for those on their holidays to go to for a meal.

It is open seven days a week all through the year and was built three years ago, with the natural wood and the log fire providing a cosy and comfortable place to eat in the winter months.
