Isle of Wight fish and chip restaurant 'highly recommended'

Tourists on Isle of Wight holidays may wish to visit a fish and chip restaurant during their time on the island after it came highly recommended in a review.

Matt and Cat of the Isle of Wight Eating Out Guide visited Wights Fish and Chips and claimed it could be the best eatery of its kind on the island.

The pair visited the location and described the bill as "modest", which may tempt those visiting the island to go along and enjoy a meal there and judge it for themselves.

It was noted: "The quality was good and the piping-hot food was fresh from the fryer. Cat’s fishcakes were very much to her liking."

They also pointed out the fishcakes were priced at just £3.95, which was labelled a "bargain" price for the meal in the review.

Matt chose to have fish and chips and said his fillet was "the perfect consistency, with a generous coating of batter that was crispy on the outside but still soft within".

Those who want to make a night of their trip to the Isle of Wight eatery may wish to take advantage of the wine list on offer at Wights, as it is a fully licensed venue.

The interior of the restaurant was described as taking nspiration from the famous Harry Ramsden chain of sit-down fish and chip shops, with the decor aping this type of eatery closely.

Another fish and chip offering available on the Isle of Wight that comes recommended by Matt and Cat is Ventnor Haven Fishery, who noted it is perfectly placed to get some food and eat it while enjoying some of the best views the island has to offer.

The venue is one of the few fish and chip shops to have pollack on its menu, which may make it a good choice for those who are concerned about the over-fishing of other types of fish.
