Isle of Wight cafe offers 'a grand experience'

Tourists on their Isle of Wight holidays can have a grand experience if they visit a cafe on the island.

The Royal Garden Cafe at Ventnor Winter Gardens was reviewed by Matt and Cat of the Isle of Wight Eating Out Guide, who were both impressed by the hearty fare on offer at the venue, which is under new management.

"Matt's stew was a real winter warmer - delicious, hot stew, heaped with chunky meat and veg, and some aromatically herby dumplings," they said.

Cat was also pleased with her selection - sardines on toast - which she described as "delicious".

The pair were in Ventnor to celebrate the launch of new Isle of Wight-brewed beer Hoppiness, which Matt said lived up to its name upon sampling it.

It is the latest positive review of the Royal Garden Cafe after the Ethical Hedonist blog stated that lunch at the eatery had been so fine, they elected to have a stroll around the gardens before returning for a cream tea.
