Talks ongoing regarding Cowes Week parade

Individuals preparing for their Isle of Wight holidays so that they can attend the Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week event will be hoping the traditional parade goes ahead as planned.

The parade was thrown into doubt as a result of the administration of Mainsail, which had played a major role in the organisation of the regatta in recent years.

According to a statement by the organisers of the 2012 Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week, talks are ongoing to work out if it is possible to stage the parade as planned without the support of Mainsail.

On Friday (August 3rd), those behind the regatta stated they hoped they would be able to provide more news within the following 48 hours, but there has been no announcement yet.

"The Isle of Wight Council is already in advanced negotiations with another company that has much experience in, and knowledge of, the Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week Parade Village with regard to providing the Parade entertainment and leisure facilities including the Sail for Gold Bar," it was noted in a statement by the organisers of the event.

Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week could be more popular than ever this week, as the regatta comes just a few days after British sailor Ben Ainslie was able to secure a gold medal for the fourth Olympic Games in succession.

Ainslie became the most successful Olympic sailor of all time in the Games over the course of the weekend and he could be set to have an impact on inspiring the next generation of sailing talent to follow in his footsteps and go for gold.

This year at Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week, a special event is going to be put on for sailors under the age of 25, so it could be the ideal time for those who are new to the sport to announce their arrival on to the scene.

Isle of Wight holidays will be popular among those who want to see the Olympic stars of the future before anyone else racing around the island from August 11th.
