Amy Williams 'looking forward to Cowes Week'

One of Britain's most famous Olympians from the modern era has stated that she is looking forward to heading to the Isle of Wight for this year's Cowes Week.

Amy Williams - the gold medallist in the skeleton event at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver - stated that although she has never sailed before, she wants to give it a try.

She will be taking part in the Artemis Challenge, which this year also features former England rugby player Martin Bayfield and James and Oliver Phelps, who play the Weasley twins in the Harry Potter films, reports Sail World.

Williams said it is "great" to be able to try her hand at something different to the sport she has become famous for.

"I know everyone's in it to win it, but it's great to be racing not only for yourselves, but also for others, since we're all competing for charity," she said.

Earlier this year, Williams was named sportswoman of the year by Glamour magazine.
