Rob da Bank hails 'best' Bestival yet

Tens of thousands of people were on the Isle of Wight over the course of the weekend to attend Bestival and festival boss Rob da Bank stated the crowd at the event was the best yet.

Addressing his 50,000 followers on social networking site Twitter, the organiser said: "Minimal brain activity now and can't walk but great memories."

The Radio 1 DJ also revealed he has already confirmed one of the acts who will be headlining Bestival on the Isle of Wight next summer.

This could mean it is one of the bands who have been performing on the Isle of Wight this weekend, although the curator did not give any hints as to who it could be at this stage.

Artists who were on the bill for the event this summer also spoke of the experience, with Kate Nash tweeting: "thank u so much everyone @bestival replay stage. I had the most amazing show. I feel so happpppyyyyy!!!"

Stevie Wonder brought Bestival to a close last night with a set that boasted many of his classic songs, including his opening track How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You), Superstition, The Way You Make Me Feel and Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours.

Rob da Bank also paid tribute to the people who helped to clean up the festival site at Robin Hill Country Park at the end of the weekend, tweeting: "big up to the litter pickers @bestival ... grubby job but soldiering on 5 days later."

New Order, Florence and the Machine and Sigur Ros were among the top acts to play at the event over the course of the four-day festival, with The xx - who were an exclusive UK booking - debuting tracks from their new album Coexist, which was released today (September 10th).

But not all of the billed bands made it to the Isle of Wight to perform at Bestival, with Azealia Banks among the artists to pull out ahead of her show.
