Bestival theme for 2013 revealed

Bestival, the Isle of Wight's major four-day music festival, has announced that it will have a nautical theme in 2013 as it pushes the boat out to celebrate its tenth anniversary.

Although the line-up is yet to be announced, a typically star-studded event is expected, with last year's highlights including Two Door Cinema Club, Hot Chip, Justice and MF DOOM.

This year's event, taking place from September 5th to 8th, has been boldly described as the best ever by festival organisers.

Rob da Bank, the DJ and curator behind Bestival, urged potential attendees to book their early bird tickets now in order to get access to the opening night party, where he will play records alongside The Cuban Brothers.

"Think deckhands, anchors, beach parties, Moby Dick, tattooed ladies, Titanic, shipwrecks, Hawaii, Treasure Island, rum bars in scuzzy ports, message in a bottle, the crow's nest, sea legends, monster breakers and tall tales of life on the ocean waves," he said.

The opening night party on 5th September is expected to involve a number of appearances from various special guests, detail of which will be revealed on the official Facebook and Twitter pages over the coming weeks.

Bestival has been a runaway success since its launch at the Robin Hill Country Park in 2004, winning numerous awards and steadily attracting a good calibre of musicians. It was named best mid-sized festival in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2009, as well as fans' favourite festival in 2011.

Having hosted 10,000 attendees in its first year, the event has grown exponentially, with 55,000 purchasing tickets in 2010.

Known for its quirky style, the festival has always encouraged unusual outfits - it holds the Guinness World Record for bringing together the most people in fancy dress at one time, and will no doubt be hoping to improve on this showing in 2013.ADNFCR-3083-ID-801498578-ADNFCR
