Bestival reveals special film screenings

Film fans could be tempted to buy tickets for Bestival on the Isle of Wight after the organisers of the event revealed the line-up of film screenings that will be held at the bash.

Some eight movies will be shown over the course of the weekend and they are sure to be a late evening attraction for those night owls who still have the adrenaline pumping from a day of music.

The flicks will get underway on the opening night of the festival, with a musical double-bill on the agenda for revellers to enjoy.

Yellow Submarine will be followed by Don't Think, which is a recent Chemical Brothers concert flick that earned rave reviews on its release.

On the Friday of the event the fare is more classic, with a double-header of Quentin Tarantino movies set to get fans salivating. Pulp Fiction will be shown ahead of Reservoir Dogs in a pairing that is sure to get the blood pumping for aficionados of the famous director's work.

Saturday will see the theme turn to dark comic book adaptations, with Watchmen followed by Sin City, before a couple of David Lynch movies round off the schedule, with Mulholland Drive backed up by Blue Velvet.

Bestival organisers confirmed that the screening of Yellow Submarine is a UK exclusive booking for this year, so fans of the Beatles are sure to want to get their place in front of the big screen.

Don't Think director Adam Smith is also going to be on hand to provide an introduction to his Chemical Brothers flick, which is sure to get dance music lovers bouncing.

Some cinemas were even forced to close in the middle of a showing of the movie, due to the fact that ticketholders were crowd-surfing in the middle of the theatre, so those who choose to go along to the Nomad-hosted arena are sure to be in for a memorable occasion.

"The Ambient Forest is my new favourite area at Bestival and I know that Nomad are going to nail our collaborative cinematic experience in the newly built beautiful wooden amphitheatre. The programme is so cool I'm worried i may just stay in the woods and watch films all night. See you there," festival curator Rob da Bank said.

Organisers of the cinema screenings promise that it is the "little touches" in the arena that are set to make it so special and memorable for those who take in a film during the event.

"From outstanding picture quality, to thought-provoking subtle extras that enhance your viewing experience, via our friendly Nomad welcome," they said, noting the aim is to make movie fans feel "warm and fuzzy" when they leave this part of the site after a showing.

Bestival curators added Nomad is the "most intrepid, the most adventurous, the roaming-est pop-up cinema experience in the world", which is sure to make it a must-see part of the festival for those with tickets to the Isle of Wight-based celebrations.

Across the island, it has been confirmed by the organisers of the Isle of Wight Festival that camping passes for the event have been sold out, although there are tickets available for those who want to make other arrangements for the party.

Headline acts for the Seaclose Park festival include Pearl Jam, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, while the likes of Jessie J, Madness, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Feeder, Example and The Vaccines are also playing.

The Darkness, Groove Armada, Matt Cardle and Magnetic Man are among the names taking to the stage in the Big Top arena over the weekend.

The event takes place next weekend, running from June 22nd to 26th
