Bestival 'brims with vibrant character'

Individuals planning to travel to the Isle of Wight this weekend to attend Bestival can look forward to a festival that is brimming with character.

According to a report by the Independent newspaper, the event stands out from the crowd in the summer festival season as a result of it pushing what are usually seen as the peripheral parts of a weekend in a park to the forefront.

Cabaret is a major part of Bestival on the Isle of Wight and a wide range of burlesque performers are set to take to the stage over the course of the weekend.

Revellers are encouraged to get into the atmosphere of Bestival by coming to the Isle of Wight event in fancy dress. Each year's event has a theme and the chosen one for 2012 is wildlife, which means all manner of weird and wonderful outfits are likely to be on show.

It was pointed out by the news provider that Bestival was founded by Josie and Rob da Bank just eight years ago, but it has already grown to one of the most important dates on the UK festival calendar for music lovers.

This year, the festival is set to be held from September 6th to 9th at Robin Hill Country Park, giving ticketholders four full days of fun and frolics on the Isle of Wight.

Some of the world's top acts have been lined up to appear over the course of the weekend, with headliners Stevie Wonder and Sigur Ros likely to attract some of the biggest crowds.

New Order and Florence and the Machine are also playing at the Isle of Wight event this weekend, while Mercury prize winners The xx will be playing songs from their new album Co-exist just days before it is released around the world.

The report noted: "It looks in the year of Glastonbury's rest like the main contender to Glasto's crown."
