Bestival boss recommends The Flaming Lips
Tue 7 Sep 2010
Music lovers heading to the Isle of Wight for this weekend's Bestival event have been advised to check out the headline set by The Flaming Lips.
Radio 1 DJ Rob da Bank stated that the US group - led by singer Wayne Coyne - are the "ultimate" band for festivals.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, he said: "Wayne will really have a ball with the fancy dress theme, 'Fantasy', rolling around in his giant hamster ball."
The festival's founder also recommended those heading on Isle of Wight holidays to attend Bestival - which gets underway on Thursday (September 9th 2010) - see The Correspondents, The Antlers and Dizzee Rascal, even though the latter is now a household name.
His final pick was The xx - who were announced as the winners of the Barclaycard Mercury Prize this week - who he said are "heartbreakingly beautiful live".
Other acts on the bill for the Robin Hill Country Park bash include The Prodigy, Fever Ray, Errors, Rolf Harris and Ellie Goulding.
