Bestival band praised in live review

Music lovers who are heading to the Isle of Wight in September to attend Bestival may be persuaded to check out The xx after the band received an excellent live review.

Betty Clarke of the Guardian gave the trio four stars for their recent show at London's Roundhouse venue.

"While their sound and stagecraft could do with being bolder, they won't be going back to the basement anytime soon," she noted, citing singer Oliver Sim's assertion that his band has come a long way since they used to perform below the main hall.

Clarke said the song Infinity was "stunning", aided by Sim's playing of the cymbals throughout the track, while she added the attention of the audience was won by a cover of Kyla's track Do You Mind from 2008.

The xx will be playing in the Big Top at Bestival - which takes place at Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight from September 9th to 12th 2010 - along with LCD Soundsystem, Fever Ray and Delphic.
