Bestival attendees told to drink lots of water

Revellers heading to music festivals such as Bestival, which is held on the Isle of Wight at the end of the summer, have been given some tips on staying healthy.

Dr Mark Salter of the Health Protection Agency has been attending events including Glastonbury for 20 years to give advice and he said drinking lots of water is important.

Speaking to BBC News, he also highlighted the importance of practicing safe sex and washing hands thoroughly after going to the toilet.

"Avoid doing anything to excess is the best way to protect your health if you are visiting a festival this year," he told those attending events such as Bestival on the Isle of Wight.

But Dr Salter added that it is inevitable some people will become unwell due to the large number of people coming together at such bashes.

TV doctor Christian Jessen recently suggested revellers heading to summer events such as Bestival take a set of earplugs to protect their hearing, reports the London Evening Standard.
