Bat For Lashes and Roots Manuva added to Bestival bill

Music fans looking forward to heading to the Isle of Wight later this year in order to attend Bestival can look forward to shows by the likes of Bat For Lashes and Roots Manuva.

The two acts lead a list of new names added to the bill of the event, which is set to take place in Robin Hill Country Park from September 6th to 9th.

Bat For Lashes has played at the Isle of Wight festival before and its curator Rob da Bank stated it was good news she will be returning to the island in 2012.

"Her shows are always otherworldly and plain incredible," he said in a statement, while Roots Manuva was described as a "hip-hop legend" who will be playing his show on his 40th birthday.

Natasha Khan, the star behind Bat For Lashes, is currently recording new tracks for her upcoming third album and may be showing off some of the songs during her performance.

The Mercury Prize and Brit-nominated musician is expected to release the follow-up to the critically acclaimed Two Suns at some point in 2012.

Ben Howard is another of the new names to have been added to the bill of the Isle of Wight-based bash and he will be joined on the line-up by Alabama Shakes.

Grimes, Chairlift, Iceage, Porcelain Raft and Factory Floor are all heading to the island to perform at this year's Bestival too, along with Dismantle, Dirty Beaches, General Levy, Top Cat featuring Sir Coxsone Outernational and Josh Kumra.

Ryan Keen, Nina Nesbitt, BIGkids, The Lovely Eggs, Alt-J, St Spirit, Charming, Shepherds, Errors, Trailer Trash Tracys, Forest Swords, Stay+, Skinny Lister, Misty’s Big Adventure are also on the updated bill for the festival.

Rob da Bank also highlighted the fact there is sure to be a lot more going on at Bestival than merely live performances by some of the country's top acts.

"Music aside, we are as usual ramping up the level of non-music related activity so if you want to take part in a nighttime ping-pong tournament in the woods, go tree climbing or join the Wildlife tug of war (first round will be Foxes vs Cockroaches) then keep checking this website for loads more fun and games! See you in September," he said.

The Radio One DJ recently revealed there is set to be a Young British Foodies tent at the festival, which will give those booking Isle of Wight holidays to go to the event the chance to sample fare from some of the best chefs in the UK during their time on the island.

It was noted two more of the headline acts for the festival are yet to be revealed, so those who are still not sure if they are going to buy Bestival tickets and head to the Isle of Wight this summer can be assured there is a lot more to come in the coming weeks.

Icelandic post-rock band Sigur Ros are arguably the biggest band to have been announced on the bill of the event so far, with New Order also set to play at the island-based bash.

Friendly Fires, The xx, Two Door Cinema Club, Soulwax, Justice, Spiritualized, Warpaint and De La Soul have been confirmed as performing at Bestival too.

Film fans are also going to be well catered for over the course of the weekend on the Isle of Wight through the Lost Picture Show at Bestival, which is set to feature movies by directors including David Lynch and Werner Herzog, with stars such as Buster Keaton and Marilyn Monroe to appear on screen in the vintage style cinema.
