TERMS & CONDITIONS
Red Funnel Ferries reserves the right to change Island Club terms & conditions, alter any information on the website or cancel or amend sailings without notice. Space on all sailings is subject to availability
ISLAND CLUB - SEASON TICKET
- Season Tickets may not be used in conjunction with any other discount card, nor with discounted rates or other special offers and promotions issued by Red Funnel Ferries from time to time.
- 7-day Adult and 7-day Student Season Tickets are not available for sale or use between 2 & 9 August 2008.
- Student Saver Tickets are available only to Isle of Wight residents who are in full time education at a School/College/University on the mainland. Tickets are valid for use 1 September 2007 to 31 July 2008 (academic year). Valid for day return travel on either service on any sailing (subject to availability). A valid Student ID card must also be shown to ticket checkers and these will be valid from 1 Sept 2007 to 31 July 2008 (academic year) Before boarding the vessel on your outward journey, please circle the month and day of travel on your ticket, tear it from the book and present this with your Student ID card to the ticket checker. Staff will tear-off the outward stub and hand back the ticket to you for use on your return journey. A passport size photograph and a copy of a university/college course enrolment letter is required for applications, please allow 5 working days for production. Student Saver Tickets and ID card can be collected from West Cowes Ticket Office on production of proof of Island residency e.g. mobile phone bill bearing holders address. Additional Student Saver Tickets can be ordered online (www.islandclub.co.uk) or by phoning 0845 330 8898, please allow 5 working days for collection from West Cowes. Customers who have mislaid or forgotten their Student Identity Card at the point of travel will be required to pay the normal fare and no refund will be issued against a single or return ticket. Saver Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. No refund will be made in the event of the cancellation or suspension of the Red Jet Hi-Speed Service, but tickets can be used on the Vehicle Ferry Service. Identity Cards will not be valid if they have been defaced, are illegible, torn or tampered with. Red Funnel reserves the right to alter the conditions of Student Saver Tickets at any time without notice.
- Refunds: 7-day and 30-day Season Tickets are non-refundable. A refund will be given on receipt of a valid 6 or 12-month Season Ticket based on the following formula: number of 30-day periods used x rate + the balance of period in days x day return rate + an administration charge. The total sum is then deducted from the full purchase price and the balance is refunded.
- No refund will be made in the event of the cancellation or suspension of the Red Jet Hi-Speed Service, but tickets can be used on the Vehicle Ferry Service.
- Lost or stolen tickets must be reported immediately to Red Funnel Island Club on 0845 330 8898.
6.1 Island Club Card Protection Scheme Members can receive up to two free replacements per annum (including damaged tickets).
6.2 Non-members will be requested to pay the standard season ticket rate should the Season Ticket be lost or stolen.
- Season Tickets remain the property of Red Funnel Ferries who may renew, cancel or withdraw Identity Cards and Season Tickets at any time. Identity Cards and/or Season Tickets must be shown to a member of staff upon request.
- Identity Cards and Season Tickets will not be valid if they have been defaced, are illegible, torn or tampered with.
- Red Funnel Ferries reserves the right to refuse to issue or renew an Identity Card or Season Ticket.
- Season Tickets are not upgradeable or transferable under any circumstances.
- Customers who have mislaid or forgotten their Identity Cards and/or Season Tickets at the point of travel will be required to pay the normal fare and no refund will be issued against a single or return ticket.
- Red Funnel Ferries reserves the right to alter the conditions of the Island Club Season Ticket Scheme at any time without notice.
- Season Tickets are only valid on the Southampton/East & West Cowes route.
Additional Conditions for Corporate ticket holders:
- On receipt of an official order, and such further information as required, Red Funnel Ferries may issue to a company (The Employer) a Season Ticket for use by an employee nominated by the Employer.
- The Employer shall be bound and liable for the use of the Season Ticket by an employee.
- Red Funnel Ferries may cancel the employee’s Season Ticket at any time upon receipt of a written request from the Employer.
- If an employee should, for any reason whatsoever, cease to work for the Employer, the Season Ticket must be returned to the Registered Office of Red Funnel Ferries. The Employer will be responsible for any travel costs incurred.
All ticket holders must:
- Only use the Season Ticket for the period in which it is valid.
- Not use or try to use the Season Ticket after any notification of its cancellation or withdrawal has been given by Red Funnel Ferries.
- Students need to show a course registration document (in conjunction with a valid student card) and proof of Island residence in order to purchase a Season Ticket at the special Student concession for a 7-day, 30-day, 6-month or 12-month card.
ISLAND CLUB - TRAVEL CARD
- Travel Cards may not be used in conjunction with any other discount card, nor with discounted rates or other special offers and promotions issued by Red Funnel Ferries from time to time.
- Red Funnel Ferries reserves the right to alter the conditions of the Island Club Travel Card Scheme at any time without notice.
- Reservations must be made via Red Funnel's Travel Centre or Ticket Office.
- Journeys not used within the validity period will automatically expire.
- Travel Cards remain the property of Red Funnel Ferries who may renew, cancel or withdraw the card at any time. Cards must be shown to a member of staff upon request.
- Non-corporate Travel Cards are non-transferable and must be carried at all times when a journey has been charged to the card.
- Reservations made, but not cancelled, prior to the departure will be forfeit.
- Travel Cards will not be valid if they have been defaced, are illegible, torn or tampered with.
- Lost or stolen cards must be reported immediately so that any remaining journey credits can be frozen. Requests to replace a lost or stolen card must be accompanied by a crime reference number/documentation issued by the Police. Card Protection Scheme members can receive up to two free replacements per annum (including damaged cards). Non-members will be required to pay an administration fee of £25 to replace a lost or stolen card and a fee may be applicable to replace a damaged card.
- Red Funnel Ferries reserves the right to refuse issue or renew a Travel Card.
- Travel Cards are non-refundable.
- Joint Gold or Silver Cardholders can be issued for car and driver and joint cardholders can travel together in separate vehicles on the same sailing. Green Card passenger travel cards are not available on a joint basis.
- Travel Cards are not upgradeable or transferable under any circumstances.
- Towed vehicles cannot be booked using Travel Cards.
- Silver Card Members are not permitted to travel on peak dates (23 & 24 December 2007, 20 & 21 March, 24 March, 23 to 26 May, 12 & 13 June, 16 & 17 June, Fridays & Saturday from 25 July to 30 August, 5 & 8 September and 23 & 24 December 2008). Silver cards are not upgradeable for travel on peak dates.
Corporate Cardholders:
- Applications must be made on a company trading letterhead. On receipt of the application, Red Funnel Ferries may issue to a company (The Employer) a Travel Card for use by a nominated individual or group of employees.
- The Employer shall be bound by and liable for the use of the Travel Card by an employee
- Red Funnel Ferries may cancel a Travel Card at any time upon receipt of a written request from the Corporate Cardholder. The Travel Card must then be returned to the Registered Office of Red Funnel Ferries.
- If an employee should, for any reason whatsoever, cease to work for the Employer, the Travel Card must be returned to the Registered Office of Red Funnel Ferries. The Employer will be responsible for any travel costs incurred.
The Cardholder must:
- Only use the card for the period in which it is valid.
- Not use or try to use the Travel Card after any notification of its cancellation or withdrawal has been given by Red Funnel Ferries, or by the company to whom the card is issued.
STANDARD CONDITIONS OF TRAVEL
- The Company’s current standard Terms and Conditions of Carriage apply to the conveyance of passengers, goods and vehicles. Copies of the Conditions are available on request at the Company’s offices. In accordance with The Carriage of Passengers and their Luggage by Sea (Domestic Carriage) Order 1987, the Company gives the following notice:
1.1.1 The provisions of the Athens Convention may be applicable, and;
1.1.2 The Athens Convention in most cases limits the carrier’s liability for death or personal injury, or loss of or damage to the luggage (including a vehicle) and makes special provision for valuables, and;
1.1.3 The Athens Convention presumes that luggage has been delivered undamaged unless written notice is given to the carrier:
a) in the case of apparent damage, before or at the time of disembarkation or re-delivery, or;
b) in the case of damage, which is not apparent, or of loss, within 15 days from the date of disembarkation or re-delivery, or from the time which such re-delivery should have taken place.
1.2 Please note that in accordance with UK Department of Transport:
1.2.1 Petrol in the tanks of motor vehicles. When motor vehicles are shipped, drivers must ensure that:
a) the tank is not so full as to create the possibility of spillage;
b) the ignition is switched off.
1.2.2 The carriage of gas cylinders in caravans and boats on RORO ferries. All cylinders must be declared by passengers to the officerin-charge of the vessel and the following conditions will apply:
a) The maximum number of cylinders carried is three, except in the case of small expendable cartridges hermetically sealed and packed in an outer container, when up to twelve may be carried.
b) All cylinders should be adequately secured against movement of the ship.
c) The supply should be shut off at the cylinders during the entire voyage.
d) Leaking and inadequately secured or connected cylinders will be refused for shipment.
