Weekly summer fun… for the family this August

One of those great things about activities for the kids here in the summer is when someone finds an event that works they repeat it, so you can make sure you don’t miss out.

So here are our faves for August…

Every Tuesday catch the Magical Punch and Judy Show with Randini at Mottistone Manor (9th,16th, 23rd & 30th) at 11.30am – bring a blanket.

Every Wednesday the National Trust are offering great summer fun for kids with their ‘Wildzone’ activties. Starting on 10th with Brickmaking and Salt Pan Nature Trail (meet at the NT Newtown Old Town Hall car park, 10am), then Mottistone Bat Zap on 17th (meet at Mottistone Manor car park, 7.30pm, bring a torch) and finally Mottistone Moth Night on 23rd -24th (meet at Mottistone Manor car park, at 7.30pm and return the next morning at 8.30am to see what has been caught overnight).

Or why not take part in a Spooky Ghost Walk around the haunted semi ruin at Appuldurcombe House, Wroxall at 7.30pm every Thursday?

Fridays are a special day at Robin Hill with their “REALLY WILD FRIDAYS”… where lots of extra free kids activities are included in the Robin Hill Freedom Ticket. Children can take part in activities such as camp building, mini beast safaris, art, dance and even survival skills. Be sure you’re there by 10.30am.

If one day a week isn’t enough – make sure you join English Heritage for their mid week ‘Time Travellers Go...’ every week from Tuesday – Thursday at Carisbrooke Castle, starting at 10am til 5pm. On 2nd – 4th it’s Seafaring, 9th -11th it’s Normans and Saxons, 16th -18th Discoveries and Inventions, 23rd -25th is Archaeology and 27th – 29th is Gruesome! Well worth a visit.
