Sleep among the Trees… an Island first

Fancy something truly different this year? Then checkout the fabulous new Treehouse available as a holiday let – a first for the Isle of Wight! Hitting the nail on the head, Into the Woods Treehouse Holidays, offers exactly what the discerning traveller is looking for at the moment – a UK based holiday with a twist.

Opening on 1st June this summer, the Treehouse is already proving very popular with bookings flying in. Located just a 5 min drive from East Cowes, among peaceful woodland in Whippingham, right on the Isle of Wight coastal cycle and walking routes, The Treehouse offers a bit of natural luxury.

With lots of natural timber and slate decor, smart bedlinen, fluffy towels and a contemporary bathroom, it sleeps 4-6, having a master bedroom, a bunk room, and a hayloft area with double futon for adventurous extras.

The sleep-house is joined by decking to a separate cosy living-house, with logburner and full kitchen facilities, with a big outdoor deck and BBQ facilities below.

Owner Fiona Headington said: “It is so wonderfully peaceful and natural where we live, between Whippingham and Wootton, so we thought it would be great to share it and create an amazing place for guests to stay. We decided to come up with something radically different that would fit in with the environment.  And so the idea for a Treehouse was born.”

The Treehouse is built from locally sourced timber and clad in local larch. The interior and furnishings will also be from reclaimed and local timber, plus natural slate.

Fiona added: “It has a cosy logburner and heating; full kitchen, comfy beds and duvets, a lovely slate, pebble and wood bathroom with power shower and views over the trees – plus a rather amazing composting loo from Sweden.  It looks just like a normal loo, only a bit bigger, uses no water, and basically evaporates the liquids up a chimney and the solids become compost.  Very modern, though simple technology and no smells!”

Prices for this unique place to stay, with total peace and seclusion, at one with nature start from just £450 a week – checkout their website for more details.

And the plans don’t stop here, according to Fiona more Treehouses are on the way “We do have permission for 2 more treehouses – and hope to expand in the near future, probably with one more.  In the meantime, if guests want to bring extras, we do have some lovely bell tents to hire too.” she said.

This is definitely one to watch this year – get in early to grab the chance to stay at this Island original.

Fiona talks us through the Treehouse experience in more detail…

Into the Woods: Park in our private woodland car park – and follow the secret path down to the Treehouse. A cart will be provided to take your luggage. The Treehouse is situated in its own private paddock. The paddock is surrounded by farmland and lovely views.

You will find yourselves in total privacy, at one with nature. There is a wealth of wildlife around you, with red squirrels, rabbits, owls, woodpeckers and many other species of birds; as well as distant mooing, baaing and neighing from surrounding farmland!

We have plenty of friendly chickens and ducks, who will be more than happy to provide you with fresh eggs, which will be available in our honesty shop, alongside homegrown veg, and sometimes even homemade cakes and evening meals!

In the Treehouse: The Sleeping pod comprises 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. The Master bedroom can be made up as either a King size bed, or 2 singles. The bunk room has 2 enclosed bunks, plus there is secret additional sleeping space for 1/2 adventurous extra! Find the spyholes!

There is a full bathroom with a lovely shower with views into the trees, loo and washbasin. The sleeping pod is heated. It is a Treehouse – so rooms are small and exciting ! But it can sleep six, cosily!

The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking and dining. However in order to be as green and natural as we can, there is no dishwasher, microwave or washing machine. Eco friendly products are provided in the kitchen and the bathroom, as the waste water runs away through a reedbed back in the woods. The loo is a super efficient scandinavian electric composting toilet. It looks and functions like a normal loo, and there is absolutely no need to worry about smells. It is actually very hi-tech! For kitchen food waste, there is a special composting area.

We have purposefully not installed TV’s, and hope that this will enhance your stay, and encourage conversation and good old fashioned play! However we have included free Wifi, so you can plan your days and keep in touch with the real world if necessary! Books, puzzles and games are all provided.

If there are more than 6 of you, or you would like to bring another family, we are in the process of creating another cabin, exclusively for the use of friends of the Treehouse occupants; plus we have some gorgeous Bell tents with carpet and comfy futon beds.

Keeping busy: There are swings and rope ladders and outdoor games to play. There is also a BBQ area, so you don’t set light to the Treehouse! Bikes are also available for hire. Children’s mini tractor rides, and shooting lessons / practice are also available on site; and we also offer exciting RIB (speedboat) rides on the Solent, from nearby Cowes. It really is a special place. Yet also – not far from civilization !

Going the extra mile: We also have a 9m RIB speedboat for charter. Fantastic fun for all ages – it can be hired with a fully qualified driver, by the hour, half day or full day for exhilarating rides on the Solent, starting from Cowes. And take advantage of our babysitting service available day and evening.
