Cycle the Wight in on this Sunday, June 26th, and will start and finish at The Three Bishops in Brighstone, and promises to be a family fun day out.
For exhausted hungry and thirsty riders and their supporters there will be music, entertainment and a barbecue throughout the afternoon and evening in the gardens of the pub, with everybody welcome to join in.
The Cycle the Wight marquee at the Three Bishops will have live music from Jamie Griffin, The Bohemians, Smoke Stack and Rip Tide and Bedazzled Parties will be providing a dazzling range of children’s entertainment.
First prize in the raffle will be a Scott Sportster 60 Hybrid Sports bike provided by Wight Mountain that will be given away by the IW High Sheriff Suzie Sheldon at 3pm. Tickets are available on the day and from Earl Mountbatten Hospice shops and The Three Bishops Brighstone.
Only the second year for this event, Cycle the Wight was started to raise money for those suffering with cancer. Last year it supported the Marie Curie nurses and this year The Mountbatten Nursing Service will benefit from the sponsorship money pledged.
There will be three routes to choose from through some of the Isle of Wight’s most beautiful countryside with the road and cross-country routes both providing a challenge for riders. There is also a shorter route for children and the less energetic and refreshments will be provided half way round each route.
All riders will receive a medal when they complete the route and trophies will be awarded for the most sponsorship raised and for the best fancy dress, which is optional.
There are lots of other ways you could help to make the day a success. Sponsorship would be welcomed and volunteers will be needed to help with the organisation on the day. Please get in touch if you can help in any way by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
