V-Dub Island is the Isle of Wight’s brand new VW festival weekend. The event caters for all VW owners, enthusiasts and like-minded people and features the best entertainment, heaps of family fun and more.
Taking place between August 19th and 21st on the Isle of Wight’s County Showground at Northwood with stunning views across the River Medina, and bordered with ancient woodland, the site is within easy reach of the ferry terminals, on a major bus route and close to both Newport and Cowes.
Tickets are on sale now for just £25 per person for the weekend including camping. Weekend tickets come with the option of discounted ferry travel and a special package of offers at a range of Isle of Wight attractions so event-goers can extend their stay and explore the Island at their leisure. Day tickets are also available, and up to three under 14s can go free with each paying adult.
Organiser Roni Blunt commented, “V-Dub Island is the realisation of a long-held dream. I have wanted to hold a Volkswagen Festival for such a long time, and to bring this event to the Isle of Wight is absolutely perfect. We’ve deliberately kept the ticket price low at just £25 for the whole weekend with camping, and just £10 per day on the gate. Under 14s can come in for free with an adult, making it a really affordable festival choice for families.”
Top act the Dub Pistols headline Saturday 20th August, with other hotly tipped names joining the bill across the weekend including The Foxes, Tensheds, Fuzzy Logic and Island favourites including Weatherkings and The Ohmz. Roni Blunt added, “This event is not just about Volkswagens. We have drag racing team Supercharged Outlaws in attendance, and the entertainment for the weekend is nothing short of the best music around. We’ve cherry-picked the cream of Island talent and combined it with some of the best up and coming acts in the UK today. V-Dub Island gives everyone a chance to come and experience the great atmosphere of a VW show, brilliant music, great beer and a really good family day out at half the price of other similar events.”
The event also ties in with a Surf Competition to be held at Compton Bay, featuring top ISA judge Norman Wright of the Hotdoggers Longboard Surf Club.
“We really want people who have come to V-Dub Island from the mainland to get out and about on the Isle of Wight and to see what this beautiful place has to offer. We’re giving event goers a bit of everything at V-Dub Island, from magic shows, a Cooking in a Camper Competition, beautiful cars, Burlesque performers, old fashioned sideshow entertainments and so much more. There really is no excuse not to come along – there is something on offer for everyone, so come and join us for a fabulous weekend”, said Blunt.
Tickets for V-Dub Island are available in person from Waterstones, Newport, Sunny Days, Ryde, Tramezzini, Ventnor, JCB Imaging, Freshwater, or online from www.ticketline.co.uk, and redfunnel.co.uk who are offering a special discounted ferry rate for event ticket holders.
