There are plenty of options for entertaining the kids this half term across Hampshire and the New Forest; start your adventure with a trip across the Solent to Southampton, gateway to the New Forest.
Below are some of the things that are on offer on the mainland this half term.
Marwell Wildlife, near Winchester
11 - 19 Feb 2012 - This Half Term, find out all about insects and life in cold blood, plus enjoy fun mosaic craft activities all week.
Daily Bug Encounters at Cold Blooded Corner
11am – 4pm: Get up close and personal with Giant Stick Insects, Madagascan Hissing Cockroaches and more!
11am – 4pm: Mosaic-making activities in the Picnic Hut
2pm: Royal Python Talk at Cold Blooded Corner
3pm: Penguin Feed at Penguin World
Weekends: 11/12/18/19 February: Make a paper and shiny foil bug mosaic to take home
Mid-week: 13-17 February: Be a part of history! Join our workshop to make a giant wildlife mosaic to celebrate our 40th anniversary, which will be unveiled for our birthday on 22nd May.

Opening for Half Term from 12 - 20 Feb 2012
10:30am - 5pm - Enjoy the huge array of exciting rides and attractions on offer as well as getting the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of their exotic animals.

Go undercover at Beaulieu
11-19 Feb 2012 - During February half-term week, young visitors to the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu can take part in a James Bond-themed quiz trail and an undercover army commando course.
Test your knowledge on the world’s most famous Special Agent, James Bond, in the attraction’s brand new Bond in Motion exhibition, showcasing 50 original vehicles from the James Bond films.
From 13-17 Feb, learn the skills and tactics required to outsmart the enemy, whilst getting a taste of life in the modern Army on an Army Commando course, courtesy of soldiers from the Marchwood based 17 Port & Maritime Regiment. Once kitted out in army camouflage, young recruits can join real soldiers on a patrol exercise, have fun on an Inflatable Assault Course and test their aim on a Laser Shotgun Range.
February Fun activities are included in your entry to Beaulieu, which also includes the National Motor Museum, BOND IN MOTION, Palace House, Beaulieu Abbey and World of Top Gear.

Discovery Days at New Forest Centre, Lyndhurst
Tues 14 & Thur 16 Feb 2012
Discovery Days run every Tuesday and Thursday during the school holidays and are run as drop-in sessions, so no need to book in advance. Discovery Days enable the whole family to explore the New Forest Museum in more detail and join in some enjoyable Forest themed activities.
Admission for chilren under 16 is free but they muct be accompanied by a paying adult.

Up to 2 children (15 years and under) can travel free this half term with every paying Adult or Senior from11 to 19 February 2012 as day return foot passengers on the Red Jet (after 09:15 Mon to Fri) or Vehicle Ferry service. Travel in a vehicle is also free with a paying Adult or Senior.
