The fifth annual of the Isle of Wight Awards will celebrate the Island’s most loved hospitality businesses

Applications are now open for the fifth annual Red Funnel Isle of Wight Awards. The coveted awards, which recognise the Island’s stand-out tourism businesses, are split into three categories: Accommodation, Food & Drink and Things to Do.

Last year 60 bronze, silver and gold awards were handed out to the Island’s favourite tourism heroes, as voted for by the public. This year, eligible businesses can nominate themselves for two awards from 19 award categories until applications close on 31 March 2024.

New accolades have been added to this year’s event, with a view to further highlighting the exceptional businesses contributing to the Island tourism and bring a new cohort of worthy winners up through the ranks.

The ‘Isle of Woof Award’ celebrates the best of dog-friendly hospitality on the Island, and is open to businesses who go above and beyond for their four-legged visitors, and owners.

Due to popular demand, a ‘Best Roast’ award has also been added to the Food & Drink category, alongside existing awards for Best Burger and Best Fish & Chips awards.

The public will be able to vote for their favourite Island tourism businesses in April, once applications have closed.

CEO of Red Funnel, Fran Collins, said: “The fifth instalment of the Isle of Wight awards is a great opportunity to celebrate the brilliant businesses on our doorstep. The 2024 edition is the best yet, with three new categories. I can’t wait to crown the inaugural Red Funnel Tourism Champion at the awards later this year.”

Kelly Wickes from Monkey Haven, 2023 winners of the Gold award for Best Small Attraction, said: “Receiving the gold title last year was a genuine honour. Showcasing our award to our customers signifies a meaningful acknowledgment of our hard work, and we extend our best wishes to all businesses entering in 2024."

Michael Dangerfield from IsleofWight.com and judge of the Red Funnel Isle of Wight Awards 2023, said: “Each year, we see more and more talent entering the awards. It is a pleasure to review the excellent businesses we have on the Island, and we encourage everyone to nominate themselves and get involved.”
