Bembridge Windmill

Built around 1700, Bembridge Windmill is the only surviving windmill on the Isle of Wight. With its stone-built tower, wooden cap and machinery it's one of the best loved landmarks on the Island. Although no longer working, the windmill, which is now in the care of the National Trust, has most of its original wooden machinery intact and is an example of industrial archaeology at its best. There are four floors to explore in this Grade 1 listed building and lovely views from the top across unspoilt countryside.

• Small kiosk selling hot and cold drinks, ice creams and souvenirs.
• Free parking in lay-by on B3395 then a short walk (approx 100 yards) along the track to the windmill.
• Please note there are no lavatories. The nearest ones are in Bembridge village.
• Sorry no dogs other than assistance dogs admitted into the windmill or surrounding field but they can be tied up outside the kiosk. Drinking water provided.

Notes

Access to the different floors is by means of steep ladder steps.

Disabled access: There are two steps to the entrance kiosk. The surrounding field is level and the gate can be opened on request for wheelchairs. The ground floor of the windmill has steps, narrow doorways and limited turning space. Access to the other floors is by steep ladder steps. Photo album of the higher floors available.
