Red Squirrel Events
Great events for all the family...
Red Squirrel Week runs from 3 - 11 October 2009.
To celebrate the survival of around 3000 Red Squirrels on theIsle of Wight and to draw awareness to the plight of these rare creatures, why not take part in these special squirrel events?
- Sunday 4th October, meet at 2pm in Newchurch car park. An informal squirrel safari, hunting for likely trees, dreys, food leavings and possibly squirrels! Costs £2 with all monies to the Wight Squirrel Project.
- Friday October 9th, Robin Hill. An in depth event where participants can learn monitoring techniques and data handling in more depth. Meet at 1pm in the Café for tea and biscuits followed by an introduction to monitoring, its importance, a look at monitoring forms and a special computer programme written by local squirrel enthusiast, Michael Hodge. This is followed by a walk around park to put into practice what you have learnt. We will look for dreys, food leavings and of course, squirrels. Cost is £5 which covers entry to Robin Hill, refreshments and course materials.
