Ventnor Fringe Festival
Ventnor Fringe Festival returns 9-14 August 2016
The Ventnor Fringe and its sister event, the Ventnor International Festival, together welcome more than 300 artists to the Island's southernmost town every August for a unique celebration spanning six days.
A wonderland of pop-up bars and boutique venues, events take place right across the picturesque town spanning warehouses and empty buildings to a Harbour, woodland glaze, churches and even local's front rooms!
Where else could you catch a ventriloquist show in a launderette, a midnight cellist concert in an 11th century chapel or a late night swing party in a network of abandoned tunnels?
Both Festival span theatre to comedy, music to film and offer a chance to discover the most exciting artists of the future, at the very beginning of their careers. Whatever your age and whatever your budget, don't miss this extraordinary week in Ventnor!
Described by The Sunday Times as "...rapidly becoming the country's most surprising and inspirational multidisciplinary arts festival" the Ventnor Fringe hosted well over 300 performers in 2015 with record breaking ticket sales.

Following its initial run at the Ventnor Exchange 'Good Night, Little Bear' returns for a limited run as part of the Ventnor International Festival before heading off on tour.

Along the way they'll meet bickering bats, an albatross who likes to take things easy and a turtle who can't quite remember where he left anything. It's sure to be quite an adventure!

BANE (I - IV)
Thu, 11 August - 18:00 to Sun, 14 August - 20:00
Victoria Street Studio
Following extensive worldwide tours and a sell-out run at the Ventnor Exchange Joe Bone and Ben Roe return to the Isle of Wight to present the entire collection of BANE performances especially for the Ventnor International Festival.
The stories follow hit-man, Bruce Bane, as he tries to find out who's after him. They're told by actor Joe Bone, who tells the stories like a movie, to Ben Roe's evocative live soundtrack.
All three shows are fast paced action packed thrill rides that take the audience on a rollicking journey through the cinema sodden imagination of this exciting duo. It's been one of our favourite events to host at the Exchange and we can't wait to bring Bane back this summer.
Thu, 11 August - 20:00
Liverpool's rising psychedelic pop trio Stealing Sheep have been making big waves since the release of their second album 'Not Real' on Heavenly Recordings in 2015.
Described by The Guardian as a 'visionary adventure' the band, consisting of Rebecca Hawley, Emily Lansley and Lucy Mercer, manage to combine a contemporary and even futuristic electronic sound with a more traditional pastoral, folk base. Eccentric but brilliant, these are ones to watch!
Stealing Sheep's performance in Ventnor will be in a mystery venue. Ticket holders will be sent the address of the venue 24 hours before the event to the email associated with the booking
Outdoor Screening: The Grand Budapest Hotel
Fri, 12 August - 21:00
Ventnor International Festival and The Travelling Film Show present Wes Anderson's 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' in a special outdoor screening in Ventnor Park.
The Blind Mole's Ball with Boogie Belgique
Sat, 13 August - 22:00
Boogie Belgique is the recording name of young Belgian producer Oswald Cromheecke who uses old jazz and swing samples to create new sounds. Although loosely 'electro swing' his extensive output over 4 albums takes the genre in some interesting new directions exploring trip-hop, abstract beats and electronic sounds.
Following a performance at the Ventnor Fringe in 2015 this year Boogie Belgique returns as a full live band show with incredible visuals and new rooms opened up within the underground vaults. A very rare UK performance, this is the late night party you'll want to be at!
