What are RSS feeds?
RSS web feeds allow you to choose useful content on the sites you browse and subscribe to updates. They are automatically updated as new information is added. RSS stands for 'Really Simple Syndication'. In essence, the feeds themselves are just web pages, designed to be read by computers rather than people.
You can add feeds to your RSS reader (e.g. Bloglines, Firefox live bookmarks), start page (e.g. iGoogle, Netvibes) or website.
What do I need to be able to use them?
You’ll need to choose and install a feed reader or set up your browser to receive feeds. This is a piece of software that checks the feeds and lets you read any new articles that have been added. There are many different versions, some of which are downloadable applications and some are accessed using a browser.
Popular feed readers:
For Windows: FeedDemon | NewzCrawler
For Mac OS X: NewsFire | NetNews Wire
Some browsers that support RSS:
Firefox | IE 7 | Safari | Opera
