Red Funnel launches its biggest live onboard music event
09-02-2015 To mark the launch of Acoustic Isle 2015, Visit Isle of Wight’s acclaimed acoustic festival, Red Funnel is hosting its biggest ever onboard live music event on two of its ships on 28th February and 1st March 2015.
Red Funnel’s Live Lounge sessions take place inside the top deck lounges on Red Falcon and Red Eagle from 0900 to 2000 hrs each day with 14 local acoustic acts booked to entertain customers travelling to and from the Isle of Wight.
Acts include Jim Elston of the Solent Inn - guitar god and now doing acoustic T-REX and Bowie covers; David Thornton – IoW musician with a new album who just happens to be CEO of the Isle of Wight tourist board; Sam Sheasby – brilliant Island musician with a new EP out on Itunes – cool and American in style; Skin Deep – duo who play regular gigs around the Island. Other acts include Nick Cane – an established Island singer, songwriter; Music Craft; Tea N Biscuit Boys – the Island’s hottest rockabilly trio; folk trio Wihtwara; upbeat trad jazz specialist Jukebox Jazz and Rebel and the Hearts whose debut EP is out now.
For those who just want to come along and listen to some great music, Red Funnel is offering an inclusive £12.50 day return fare for two foot passengers travelling on any sailing between Southampton and East Cowes on 28 February and 1 March 2015. Acoustic Isle builds on the Island’s strong music and rock festival heritage and showcases the very best of local talent which thrives on the culture rich Isle of Wight.
