Alan Davies, The Jam and more to perform at the Isle of Arts Festival, 19 – 21 Apri

In keeping with its reputation as the home of world class festivals and events, the Isle of Wight will once again host the Isle of Arts Festival, 19 – 21 April. The weekend will showcase the very best of the arts, with household names including Alan Davies, Stuart Maconie and The Jam, along with talented newcomers and Island favourites. 

Alan Davies, ‘Life is Pain’ stand-up show, Saturday 20 April
Alan Davies, the star of QI and Jonathan Creek will offer up surreal observational story telling in his stand-up show ‘Life is Pain’. Following its launch at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and a successful UK tour, Alan’s critically acclaimed show comes to Ventnor on Saturday night to launch the Isle of Arts Festival line-up.

Stuart Maconie, Friday 19 April
BBC Radio 2 broadcaster and best-selling travel writer Stuart Maconie will speak at the opening of the festival, revealing tales from his travels and some of the stories behind his two life passions – music and fell walking. 

The Jam, Sunday 21 April
One of the most iconic bands of the punk rock era are set to perform at the festival’s grand finale on Sunday, 21 April. The Jam bassist Bruce Foxton will be joined by Russell Hastings on vocals and guitar to treat the audience to some of the band’s best known hits, including Town Called Malice and Going Underground. 

Feeling Austentatious – Regency Ball and improvised novel event
Austen fans are in for a treat with the festival’s Regency Ball on Saturday 21 April, complete with period dances and pastimes, live music by the Regency Belles, and souvenir dance cards. For those that can’t wait for their Austen fix, Friday night’s event entitled Austentatious: An Improvised Novel is sure to entertain, with an immersive comedy drama performance based entirely on audience suggestions.
