This autumn’s Isle of Wight Literary Festival is set to offer eager culture buffs the chance to hear from some of the UK’s brightest literary talents, including Island writer Patrick Gale, author of Captain Corelli’s Mandolin Louis de Bernières, chick-lit writer Rebecca Chance, writer broadcaster and former MP Gyles Brandeth and horror novelist Chris Priestley. Accommodation and return ferry travel for the weekend starts from just £138pp with Red Funnel.
Taking place from Friday 12 – Sunday 14 October at Northwood House, the festival will celebrate a long history of poets and writers who found inspiration on the Island - from Dickens to Tennyson - in addition to raising funds for the historic building’s restoration.
As well as a stellar line up of names including cookery and entertainment writer Amy Willcock, TV presenter Anneka Rice and actress Celia Imrie, visitors can also expect a diverse programme including drama workshops, story-writing competitions, children’s shows, debates, and informative sessions on everything from education and political plotlines to new media and crime writing. Additionally, there will also be special historic bus tours of the Island, led by talent such as Celia Imrie and Fidelis Morgan. They will provide a running commentary of famous Island works including letters, poems and extracts as the tour visits literary haunts across the Isle of Wight’s magnificent countryside.
Certain events are free, while other individual ticket prices range from £8 - £35. Purchase a weekend pass for £34 and event prices will start from just £1*. All tickets can be purchased from www.isleofwightliteraryfestival.org, along with ferry travel and accommodation from Red Funnel www.redfunnel.co.uk.
