Fantastic August Festivals on the Isle of Wight

Fantastic festivals on the Isle of Wight this August

August favourites such as the Garlic Festival and Ventnor Fringe Festival are being joined this year by events postponed due to June’s deluges, so head to the Isle of Wight this August to catch the summer we’ve so far missed!

Garlic Festival, 18-19 August

One of the Island’s most popular annual events, the Garlic Festival sees thousands
following their nose to the site just outside Newchurch for a two day celebration of everything garlic related, from garlic bread to garlic beer.  A great family day out, there is also live music, activities, a fun fair and over 300 stalls.  There’s free parking on site and tickets cost £24 for a family, or £8 per adult, £7 for senior citizens, £5 for children aged 5-15, and under 5s go free.

Ventnor Fringe Festival, 15-18 August

Created and managed by a team of students from the Isle of Wight, the Ventnor Fringe promotes Ventnor as a place for artists from across the world to come together to perform, debate and experiment with new work.  An established annual event, the 2012 programme is set to be one of the most diverse and exciting collections of performances yet, with many events free of charge.

Rhythmtree Festival, 24-26 August

Postponed from July, Rhythmtree is a three-day festival devoted to didgeridoo, samba and world music and is known as the UK’s friendliest festival. It’s a top choice for families, with youngsters finding lots to do in the children’s area, plus daily free workshops for all including Cajun dance, introduction to Samba playing, drum circles and more.  Three day camping tickets cost £77 (18 yrs +) or £42 (aged 13-17), with 12s and under free.  Day, non-camping, tickets are also available for £31 for Saturday or Sunday.
